This year’s much-anticipated opening will feature Grammy-winning artists Imagine Dragons, alongside PVRIS, Bea Miller, JID, and Denzel Curry.

LOS ANGELES - 5 am PT Nov. 6, 2021 - The League of Legends Worlds Final will commence with the annual Show Open Presented by Mastercard at 5 am PDT/12 p.m. GMT November 6. This year’s opening spectacle will feature Grammy-winning artists Imagine Dragons, alongside PVRIS, Bea Miller, JID, and Denzel Curry. Fans will be taken on an Arcane-themed journey throughout the world of iconic Runeterra cities Piltover and Zaun, which will be brought to life in Arcane debuting at 7 pm PDT November 6 on Tencent Video in China and on Netflix globally, just a few hours after the Worlds Final.

For the first time, the Show Open will debut in short-film style prior to the start of the 2021 League of Legends World Championship Final. The video was shot on a massive practical, feature-film style set and required collaboration among more than 30 different agencies, studios, and production companies from around the world, including scenic teams responsible for Blade Runner 2049 and the forthcoming Mission Impossible sequels.

“This year’s Show Open is a musically-driven, cinematic journey through the world of Arcane,” said Nick Troop, Executive Producer of League of Legends Global Esports Events for Riot Games. “We’re excited to showcase an ambitious blend of fully realized locations in both Zaun and Piltover, mixed with best in class animation, all in service of creating a canvas for the most compelling roster of artists we’ve ever had. Runeterra is a rich environment for storytelling, and LoL Esports is excited to play a part in showcasing the depth and breadth of the universe of League of Legends.”

Imagine Dragons, massive League fans and players from the start, first collaborated with Riot in 2014 on the first ever Worlds Anthem, "Warriors." Both Riot and Dragons have been looking for more ways to collaborate ever since, and Arcane plus the 2021 Show Open felt like the perfect opportunity. Dragons brought over JID for a feature, who was a perfect creative fit for the song, “Enemy,” and the Show Open.

“Enemy is about reconciling internal conflict in a world where it feels impossible to trust even yourself,” said Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons, regarding the song ‘Enemy.’ “In Arcane, two sisters' lives take them on different paths which leads to a division that threatens to tear an entire city apart. Like the series, the song is meant to be both personal and a critique of a society that seems intent on creating division.”

Bea Miller first collaborated with Riot on its virtual K-pop inspired group, K/DA, in 2020. Riot was excited to invite her back for another project. It’s the first time for PVRIS and Denzel Curry to be working with Riot, but the two artists have been on internal moodboards and playlists for the team for many years.

The League of Legends World Championship Finals and Show Open Presented by Mastercard will begin at 5 a.m. PDT/12 p.m. GMT November 6. The Worlds Final represents the culmination of international League of Legends esports. Held at the end of the regular season in a different host region each year, Worlds features 22 teams from Riot’s professional leagues and remains the most viewed event in esports, with last year’s final in Shanghai peaking at 46 million viewers and registering an average minute audience (AMA) of 23 million. In 2019, the Worlds Final in Paris peaked at 44 million viewers and reached a 21.8 million AMA.
