Los Angeles, CA - In its continued effort to create massive esports entertainment experiences that ignite fans’ passion and love for gaming, Riot Games is excited to welcome the team from interactive media technology startup Kanga. The Kanga team will join Riot’s Global Digital Esports group where it will focus on developing digital fandom features and experiences for fans of Riot’s esports.
Founded by Jake Perlman-Garr in 2018, Kanga focused on creating cutting-edge “fan hubs” offering exclusive content, social wagering, merchandise sales, and video content aggregation specific to a fan’s favorite esports franchises and streamers.
“We are thrilled to have Jake and his team join us in our quest to make the world better for esports fans,” said Luke Cudney, Director of Esports Product Management, Riot Games. “Kanga represented the very rare and perfect mix of talent, shared vision, passion, and value alignment. I am so excited by what we are building together to foster deep, meaningful fan participation with esports.“
“Riot’s bold vision for esports is unparalleled across gaming so we just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to contribute our expertise in audience engagement and gaming fandom to the mission.“ said Jake Perlman-Garr, Kanga’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer.
In addition to its mission to be the most player-focused gaming company in the world, Riot Games is also working toward becoming the undisputed leader in esports, expanding its esports portfolio with the first-person shooter VALORANT Champions Tour and Wild Rift Esports joining the world’s biggest esport, League of Legends Esports (LoL Esports).
